OUR FIRST CHRISTMAS IN OUR FIRST HOME
i'm so unbelievably excited to finally have christmas in our first home! we've spent our first two years of marriage bouncing from apartment to apartment, hoping we'd find a way to make each feel like our own. it's possible, but let me tell you - it's so hard to make a rental feel unique! we're embracing the freedom this christmas in our first home to draw on the walls, put holes in the ceiling, and whatever else we feel like doing!
thanks Jen for letting me be a part of this amazing tour! the homes on this housewalk are completely breathtaking!
if you're here from The Golden Sycamore, welcome to the Wagner house!
one of my favorite things about having a house is our control over the entryway. we love being able to decorate our front porch according to the season and use leftover resources from other projects to create something new! we used an old scrap from the desk we built in the loft to create a festive lettered piece for the porch and cuttings from our christmas tree to switch up the door wreath.
we're suckers for minimalistic & scandinavian design, so we wanted to keep our entryway beautifully simple this christmas. adding lights and wall-colored ornaments to a simple cedar garland created such an elegant ambience – we're in love!
because of the small size of our living room, we had decided that keeping the tree as minimal as possible would prevent the room from looking cluttered. we added lights above the windows and hung a lighted star above the tree to create warmth, while keeping the tree unlit and free of too many decorations to keep the room feeling open, yet festive.
what's christmastime without a well-stocked and festive bar cart?!
we hosted thanksgiving at our house for the first time this year and it was so amazing! i created simple, lettered place cards for each of our guests and when i went to clean everything up, i realized that everyone took their cards with them!
i love having reminders around my home of things that God has placed on my heart. this reminder sits lovingly in our kitchen to help me remember what the fruit of this christmas season looks like.
the office in the loft is my favorite space to create. we intentionally designed it to feel warm and collaborative while still being functional. we spend our mornings reading books from our small library on our favorite couch (craigslist find!!) and the afternoons working from our built-in desk.
thank you so much for stopping by! this is the last stop on the housewalk for today, but venture over tomorrow for the last day of Jen Rizzo's #holidayhousewalk2015 with Unskinny Boppy Blog starting here!
